    • Patrick's age in the 1901 census is 40 (born 1861), at his death in 1913 it is 55 (born 1858). The 1911 census age of 65 is too old, however the State Pension had been introduced in 1909 for those aged 70 and the state had no registration of births before 1864.

    James McParland, (John/Pat'k) & Catherine (Boyle) - Ballard. Pages from Griffiths Land Valuation records of changes. In Ballard the tenant No 28a is James McParland - (No28 is the first house in Ballard road [north-side] and opposite Ward’s residence). James’ son Patrick replaces James in 1910 (see matching purple “10” in the OBSERVATIONS column). In 1917 Patrick’s wife Catherine (Kate Boyle) takes over from the late Patrick (matching blue “17” in OBSERVATIONS column).

    • Information on Jimmy Nancy's name is from 2010 audio of Tommy O'Brian. McParland house is No28 on 1864 Griffiths Land Valuations (GLV): tenant was James McParland. In 1910 Patrick replaces his late father James. In 1917 Catherine McParland replaces Pat'k as tenant of the property and remains through to 1929 when GLV records are closed.
      "Patrick McParland" is the name entered on the 1904 birth registration of daughter Sarah (Susan McParland-married to Mick McGinnis). GLV records (above) indicate it is most likely this same
      The Land records (Griffiths Revisions) show that the tenancy of their land (No28/28a Ballard townland) changes from James to his son Patrick McParland after death of James in 1910. After Patrick's death in 1913 his wife "Catherine McParland" (Kate Boyle) takes over the tenancy.
