  • Notes 
    • "Johnny" Crawley's first wife Alice Carr died in 1895. Maggie Hanlon married Johnny the following year. The Crawley house is on Ballard Road, up from Ward's/Longfield Road and on the left. Children were: John, Jemmy & Kate/Catherine died during 1970/1980's.
      Maggie's sister Mary Hanlon married James Mcparland and left for America. Some of the children remained in USA and some returned to Ireland with James & Mary.
      "Maggie was a very small, little woman. Always with a black cape and a little black cap on her & wore black clothes right down to her ankles. We used to go into her's coming from school and look for a drink of water and she would put milk in the water and we thought this was something out of the ordinary. It was wonderful. Maggie, she died around the fifties (1950s) that'd be right and then her husband auld Johnny (Crawley) a good while after her I believe. Then her son John (Young John as he was called) died in 1977. Then his sister Mrs McGrath she died in later years. Then there was another brother Jimmy who lived in America. He came home here a few times; he died in America" (2010 - audio recording in Ballard of "Johnny" Crawley's grandson, Tommy O'Brien).

In June 1945 Peter Hannaway married Sarah Byrnes in Lislea, County Armagh. Welcome to the pages of their families.
