Bernard O'Neill & family in the 1901 census. Bernard O'Neill was from Longfield townland. In 1868 he married Bridget Bennett from Ballard, daughter of James Bennett. Eight years later Bernard took over James Bennett's house and land in Ballard and set up as a Blacksmith. Their daughter married Patrick Hanlon of Ballard. James 'Red' Bennett & O'Neill's place were on the Lislea road (now Milltown Rd) in Ballard.
