HANNAWAY John & Mary McGinness 1867 Marriage Record
1867 Marriage entry for John Hannaway & Mary McGinnis (known as Mary "Bartley" after her father Bartholomew or Bartley McGinnis) - in Lislea RC chapel, Lislea, County Armagh. This document confirms that Bartholomew McGinnis of Levelamore is the father of Mary McGinnis. John is a "Labourer" because he is not a Tenant of 'House & Land'. Likewise John's father Peter Hannaway is recorded here as a "Labourer". Peter is therefore not the Tenant of the Hannaway household in Slieve Gullion townland where he resides with his wife Rose Mullen: the Tenant would be recorded as a "Farmer". Three years earlier, in the 1864 Griffiths Land Valuations, the Tenant of the Hannaway household in Slieve Gullion townland was a "Patrick Hanaway". No other record of this Patrick has been found so far.
The Witnesses are John Kelly and "Ann Hanaway: Ann is most likely John's younger sister who married Patrick Bennett a few years later. The Kelly family were neighbours of the McGinnis family in Levelamore. © Crown copyright- https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk/
