    Notes
    • There is no trace of marriage of Peter & Elizabeth in RC & Church of Ireland: counties Armagh, Down, Louth and Monaghan. In February 2011 Source; Frank Byrnes (b1918) at time of funeral of his sister Sarah, confirmed they had not married. He added they were also First Cousins. A dispensation from the Catholic church would be required: first cousin relationship is 4th degree of cosanguinity and contemporary parish records do indicate dispensations were granted.

Elizabeth died 30 Nov 1907. On to 24 January1908 her husband (Peter) died; thus was a "widower" on his Death Certificate
      Marriage Status: Never Married

  • Notes
    • We know from Baptism records that Bernard was born in 1862. In the Byrnes Red Book, Nan Martin (née Byrnes, 1917-1976) records Bernard died aged 12. No trace of a Byrnes/Byrns/Burns death, any first name, to match his 1862 birth between 1864 and 1877. The 1865 death registration for a Bernard Burns is in Monog townland-on the edge of Crossmaglen. Peter Byrnes is a farm Tenant; the Registrar would record him as "Farmer" not a "Labourer".
Barney or Bernard. Death Cerificate (for "Bernard Burns") registered in Castlblaney. Age 3 years. Cause of death: "burns, after 15 days. Not certified, no medical attendant." Present at Death: sister, Anne Burns" (aged 5??.)
