  • Notes 
    • Matthew Loyden died in Salonika (Gallipoli) in 1917 serving with 11th Bn. the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles). The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) record that Matthew had previously served with the RNR (Royal Naval Reserve).
      From Admiralty records, now with the National Archives UK, Matthew served as a "Std" (perhaps a Steward) aboard HMS Motagua. This was an armed merchant vessel also known as "P" ships. His Admiralty merchant marine records show that Matthew was awarded three WW1 medals: the 1914-15 Star, Victory medal and the British War medal.
